Who are we?
We are a recognized student organization comprised of female graduate students in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at UIUC.
What do we do?
We engage with each other and with our department in a number of different ways:
- We meet informally with women seminar speakers, over breakfast, lunch or coffee, giving us an opportunity to ask questions, to learn more about the experiences of successful women in academia and industry, and to build useful networks.
- We meet with the women faculty in our department, building stronger relationships.
- We have coffee time together, a good opportunity to meet other people outside our own research groups.
- We share knowledge on classes, quals, prelims, and how to navigate the hurdles of the graduate experience.
- We help the department to welcome prospective women graduate students.
- Our annual retreat is a great way to welcome new women graduate students to the department, as well as to encounter other women we haven’t yet had the chance to talk to.
